Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum, sometimes called the mushroom of immortality) is used traditionally as a tonic and supplement rather than as a culinary mushroom, because of its distinctly bitter, woody taste and firm, tough texture. It is mostly used for slow-simmered teas, decoctions, broths, powders or coffee blends.
